The Camp Nou is back! First up: FC Barcelona vs Athletic Bilbao

The Camp Nou is officially back, and no one is more excited than the Culers and the athletes themselves.

After more than 2 years of renovations, the glorious and historic Camp Nou is finally ready to welcome the fans and athletes of FC Barcelona back home. This Saturday, November 22nd, at 4:15 pm local time, the Blaugrana will return to their stadium for the first time since June of 2023 to play a La Liga match against Athletic Club Bilbao. With a new stadium capacity of 105,000, fans are eager to come and watch their team play their first match after being at Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys in Monjuïc, Barcelona, for the past 2 seasons.

For some of the team, it is their first time playing at the Camp Nou, including Marcus Rashford, Joan García, and Roony Bardghji, who were all recent FCB signings, as well as our manager Hansi Flick, who took charge when the team was already at the Estadi Olímpic.

There are also a handful of players who have never made their debuts in the old Camp Nou, players like Dani Olmo, Pau Cubarsí, Marc Bernal, Gerard Martin, Marc Casadó, and Fermín López. Especially our new number ten, Lamine Yamal, has not been back to Camp Nou since his debut back in 2023 under Xavi Hernández’s management. Barcelona was planning on opening the new stadium doors by the start of the 2025/2026 season but experienced some delays due to safety concerns they needed to check before allowing the public to come back.

But now that the announcement is official, Culers are ready to return to the iconic place they call home. Hopefully the “Cant del Barca” will be heard all throughout the city of Barcelona, as people prepare for the day they have been waiting 2 long years for. We as fans will get to witness many of the athletes’ and coaches’ first experience playing in what could turn into the greatest football stadium in the world.
